Supt CPD: Stalking and Domestic Violence Protection Orders – the role of the Superintendent as an authorising officer
November 1 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pmFree
Stalking Protection Orders and Domestic Violence Protection Orders provide police forces with a valuable civil tool to address these types of behaviours, minimise risk and protect victims. The Superintendent plays an important legislative role in reviewing and scrutinising these matters, before considering authorising applications to be made in the Magistrates Court by police legal departments.
This session aims to provide an overview of the relevant legislation applicable to the Orders as well as where, when and how they are used. It will also provide an insight into the role the Superintendent plays as an “Authorising Officer”, whilst seeking to highlight common considerations, good practice and potential issues which may be encountered”.
