Supt CPD: Police perpetrated domestic abuse: super-complaint key findings
October 18 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pmFree
A two-year investigation into how forces respond to allegations of domestic abuse concerning police officers or police staff suspects concluded this year. Forces are currently reviewing and making changes to how they respond to such cases in light of the investigation findings. This includes in relation to protecting and demonstrating the integrity of criminal investigations and in terms of how cases are handled by force professional standards departments.
This presentation will talk through the investigation’s key findings and the resulting recommendations. It is relevant to a wide audience, particularly those with an interest in force organisational culture and responding to officer-involved domestic abuse and VAWG offences more generally.
The investigation was conducted by the College of Policing, HMICFRS and the IOPC, and with considerable involvement from forces and wider stakeholders. The final report is available to read online.
Isla Campbell and Jenny Brown (College of Policing)
