Workshop 4: Leading in a changing world – Imber Court, East Molesey
18th February 2020 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pmFree
In today’s uncertain and ambiguous environment, the ability to lead change is a key requirement and an important leadership skill for leaders of all levels within policing. People can be resistant to change and many initiatives fail, so it is important to embrace effective methodologies to manage change.
As part of a six-month leadership learning workshop roadshow – running from September 2019 until March 2020 – the College of Policing will deliver five regional ‘Leading in a changing world’ workshops to give you the tools and knowledge to successfully lead people through change.
In this workshop we will explore:
– The importance of horizon scanning and its impact on leadership, strategy and culture
– How to lead in a world full of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA)
– How to prepare for, and lead, change.
This free-of-charge, one-day workshop runs from 9.30am till 3.30am and is split into two distinct sessions: a theoretical morning session and practical afternoon session.
During the theoretical morning session, an expert will talk you through key models and theories on horizon scanning and the dimensions of change, as well as potential attitudes to change, engagement of people and teams and common pitfalls in delivering strategic change initiatives. The practical afternoon session will focus on the application of this theory, with case studies by a guest speaker and the hosting force, facilitated discussions and action planning exercise.
All our leadership learning workshops are aimed at team leaders of all levels within policing, who are keen to explore tools and techniques that could help them get the best out of their team and individual team members.
To join this workshop, add a ticket to your cart at the bottom of the page (please ensure you have permission from your organisation/force prior to reserving a spot).
Joining instructions, including recommended pre-workshop preparation and detailed agenda, will be shared approximately two weeks prior to the workshop. For any further questions regarding this workshop, email firstname.lastname@example.org
